Laura for Library Board of Trustees
Meet Laura Busk, candidate for Library Board of Trustees.
I was a stay-at-home mum for 11 years. Prior to that I was a teacher in the UK and in international schools in Shanghai and NYC. Last year, I returned to school to earn my Master’s degree and US teaching certification. After an internship at Black Rock School, I am currently student teaching in Litchfield. I have been a dance teacher in Litchfield for the last 10 years, teaching ballet, tap, and jazz.
I currently have a Bachelor’s Degree in education from University of Greenwich, UK, and Master’s Degree in Education from the University of Bridgeport.
I have two children, 10 and 12. My husband, William, is the President of the Friends of Thomaston Library.
When I first moved to Thomaston from the UK in 2011, I was new to town and a new mom. I needed like-minded friends and the Thomaston Public Library was the place I found those friends. My children met playmates through the children's programs and the library became a hub for the Busk family.
Now my children are older, the library is a safe place for them to meet friends and join programs. My family feels so strongly about the importance of the library, my husband being President of the Friends of Thomaston Public Library is the key reason that I am running for the Library Board.
